Collaborating never looked so good #ThreeShots☕️📚😇
Go digital with style, continued book piles, and this week in saints
Well hello my partners in book nerdiness! 💟 Interestingly, spell-check wants to change nerdiness into neediness. There’s room for reflection there, I think…
1. Coffee and collaboration ☕️
“Nerd isn’t a bad word,” my boss countered recently. “It means you have passion and you care about something.”
Well, then. I guess I’m extra nerdy, because I have a lot of passion. 😉
Last week I dove into something that I can’t not share. You may have no use for it, but if you do, let me introduce you to Mural.
I’m a writer and a planner and a collaborator. I’ve found that Mural has allowed me to really understand what a colleague was envisioning and it also allowed me to plan in a way that, honestly, I have never been able to (it reminded me of endless post-its on a kitchen table, and then I was able to organize and export and share…).
The examples all show teams using it, and I’m looking forward to diving into that with various teams I work with, though adoption will be a little slow. (Isn’t it always?)
Go ahead and reply with YOUR favorite work tool. (And if it’s a Cross Tech3+ pen, I already have it on my wish list. 😎)
2. Book piles, continued 📚
Y’all are as into books as I am.
And so, because I couldn’t help myself, I had to go down the rabbit hole of book organizing when you (a) don’t have space, (b) have an abundance of books, and (c) need a solution that isn’t building a bigger house.
First, we should talk about how to store books properly. But, honestly, at this point, I just want some ideas to not have them in boxes in my mother-in-law’s basement, even while the six of us live in 1974 square feet of house. (No basement. And when the kids are galloping, I wish there was.)
Using the walls is an interesting concept:
I agree that this looks interesting. And I could find wall space for this, and it could become an interesting organizing challenge.
But therein might lie my hurdle: I’ll spend the next ten years figuring out how to group my books. (So maybe the pro tip for me would be to just grab five books and select a wall space and GO.)
How about using dead spaces. If you have stairs, there could be space under them:
Having no stairs, I’m moving along to the use of dead space. I’d like to say that there’s a closet that I could convert into a mini-library, but I need some kids to grow up and move out first. But hey! Behind the doors! Look at this:
That got me thinking about how to use other spaces in my home for books. I don’t have window seats (but oh! If I did!), but under a bed could be a possibility (does that mean I have to clean out the other stuff under there?). I also don’t have coffee tables, but that’s also a nice idea.
I feel like I’ve just justified my husband’s comment about “too many.” Hmm. Stay tuned.
And feel free to jump into the rabbit hole with me, or share your solutions. 🤔
3. This week in saints 😇
😇 Thursday, May 13 — Our Lady of Fatima
😇 Friday, May 14 — St. Matthias the Apostle
😇 Saturday, May 15 — St. Isidore the Farmer
And I’m not even digging into the “saints with no set memorial celebrated on the Church’s calendar earlier in the week. If you didn’t already know that there are at least ten saints a day—and usually more like 15-20—then go spend some time with “Today’s Calendar” at CatholicSaints.info.
📣 Pentecost is on the 23rd, which means there’s a novena starting Saturday, May 15. (If, like me, you tend to not-quite-remember to pray novenas, check out Pray More Novenas.)
Here’s hoping you have a week of sunshine and blooms! 🌸
Blessings and coffee,
Sarah
