A journal I might actually use for Lent, music magic, and Our Lady of Lourdes
UPDATE: The original code works now. Woohoo!
Well, we’ve made it to Thursday…the last Thursday before Lent.
And I have a recommendation for you (it’s what I’ll be using, to be honest). So let’s dive in!
1. More than a book
Confession: I’m not a journaler. Not even sure that’s a word, but with the number of journals that are lobbed my way, you’d think I would want to be a journaler. And I guess I do. I want to be one. But…I’m not one.
So when I found out that my favorite artist’s new book was a journal, I was ready to look past the fact that I would fail with it. Because it would have the art.
But.
Turns out, I didn’t need to worry.
It’s not a “have to” journal.
It’s beautiful.
I say that not because I got a review copy (though I did). I say that because it IS.

Did I mention that you can get your copy for $13 and free shipping? Use code SURRENDER13. (NOTE: This code works now. I promise. The grown-ups said so.
Order now and you’ll have it before Lent.*

2. Music fun
Raise your hand if you’re always looking for the perfect playlist. 🤚
See what kind of fun you can have with this collection…
3. Saint of the Day: Our Lady of Lourdes
Oh, how I love Our Lady of Lourdes.
If you are looking for some spiritual reading, check out the accounts of each apparition of Mary at Lourdes. That link opens the listing; when you start with the first, you can click “next” all the way to the end. There are 18 of them, but I didn’t understand what Bernadette experienced until I read the full accounts, as opposed to the thumbnail summaries that are available everywhere (and that I have even written).

Prayer for today: Be blessed, O most pure Virgin, for having vouchsafed to manifest your shining with life, sweetness and beauty, in the Grotto of Lourdes, saying to the child, St. Bernadette: 'I am the Immaculate Conception.' A thousand times we congratulate you upon your Immaculate Conception. And now, O ever Immaculate Virgin, Mother of mercy, Health of the sick, Refuge of sinners, Comforter of the afflicted, you know our wants, our troubles, our sufferings deign to cast upon us a look of mercy. By appearing in the Grotto of Lourdes, you were pleased to make it a privileged sanctuary, whence you dispense your favors, and already many have obtained the cure of their infirmities, both spiritual and physical. We come, therefore, with the most unbounded confidence to implore your maternal intercession. Obtain for us, O loving Mother, the granting of our request. 🙏
From Lent to Mary. Not a bad way to spend Thursday…now, if I can just wrap my head around the work I need to get done…
Blessings and coffee,
Sarah
