February 15, 2021 #ThreeShots☕️📚😇
Just the recipe, a new series, and Blessed Juan Alonso Fernández
Apparently, we’re about to get between six inches and a foot of snow here in Ohio. When I told my husband I’d believe it when I saw it, he assured me that we will get snow. So I’m leaning in and planning a second pot of coffee for tomorrow. How’s the weather where you are?
1. Looking for a recipe
Have you ever searched for a recipe online, only to have to read through an anecdote, a discussion of ingredients, and at least 1,000 words of fluff?
What you want is the recipe.
And now, you can get it. #brilliant
Take that website address URL and paste it into this site, and 💥😃🎉.
2. Jane Austen, solver of mysteries
I blame Bookstagram, that online source of bookishness that I dabble in here and there. Over the last few years, I’ve (re)discovered that I lovelovelove Jane Austen (and Anne of Green Gables, and Narnia, and classics of all sorts). That’s led me to find Austen-inspired books (the algorithm knows me well).
And my latest find is the Jane Austen mysteries.*
I finished the first one in a Saturday binge-reading fest over the weekend and promptly reserved the second one from my library.
The book is written in the style of Austen, by Austen. We’re looking over her shoulder, reading her journal entries.
It was delightful in all the way that Austen’s writings are (and if you don’t like Jane Austen, these aren’t for you).
*Affiliate linkage. I recommend your local bookstore or library, but if you go Amazoning, I’ll take the pennies they toss my way. 😉
3. Saint of the Day: Blessed Juan Alonso Fernández
Blessed Juan Alonso Fernández joined the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart in 1953, making his perpetual vows in September 1958. He was ordained a priest in June 1960, and he was then sent to serve in Guatemala. He was a missionary to Indonesia from 1963 to 1965. Returning to Guatemala, he founded the parish of San Maria Regina in the town of Lancetillo, and served there until he was seized, tortured, and murdered by government forces. Juan was beatified in January 2020 by Pope Francis.

Prayer for today: As we approach Lent, we ask for your guidance and grace, O Lord. Let the examples of the saints before us give us strength and inspiration. Amen. 🙏
FYI: The code from Thursday for Surrender All is now working. I contacted the publisher and they have it all ironed out.
See you Wednesday, when we’re Lenting again…
Blessings and coffee,
Sarah
