Laptop cleanliness, U.S. pics, Blessed Alvarez of Cordova, and a bonus
As I type this, I have a confession to make: I’m in a mood. You know the kind, I’m sure. I’m annoyed and frustrated and it’s February. Oh, and hey, Lent.
The other day, I went through an entire hour of planning to leave the Church.
Oh, another confession: not the first time. Probably won’t be the last time.
Spoiler: I’m not going anywhere. Because, as Peter so famously said, where would I go?
I say this as a reminder that we all struggle. Even when we have a newsletter. Even when we are raising kids. Even when…well, even when. And what better time to turn our prayers to those who struggle, whether it’s those in our own country or our own home?
And with that, on with the newsletter! (And don’t miss the bonus at the end!)
1. Spring cleaning
When’s the last time you cleaned your laptop? #dontaskdonttell
2. Tour the U.S.
Check out these photo collections from all 50 states.
Here’s a favorite of mine: A view down East San Francisco Street in Santa Fe, looking toward the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi, which was completed in 1887, photographed on July 29, 2015.

3. Saint of the Day: Blessed Alvarez of Cordova
Blessed Alvarez of Cordova was a Dominican who founded Escalaceli, which became a well-known house of learning. Fun story: Once when the entire food stocks for the house consisted of a single head of lettuce, he gathered all the brothers at table, gave thanks for the meal, and sent the porter to the door; the porter found a stanger leading a mule loaded with food. After unloading the mule, the stranger and the animal disappeared.

Prayer for today: God of mercy, you endowed Blessed Alvarez with the gifts of penance and divine love. With the help of his prayers and example may we always bear the suffering of Christ in our bodies and your love in our hearts. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.. 🙏
BONUS
