Weekend reflections, Confession reimagined, and St. Walburga with Our Lady of Victory
How’s it going, my friends?
I’m having a very Lenty week, but I’d expect no less, so let’s dive in.
1. Jumpstart your weekend
I found these weekend reflections from Fr. Pontifex to be a wonderful jumpstart to weekend Mass. See what you think.
2. Confession, reimagined
Confession about Confession: I haven’t been in a while.
It’s embarrassing.
And…I know, I KNOW.
It’s been on my heart for far too long, and…
...then, sort of as if God’s got my back, I saw this:
“Ah,” I thought, “another one of those journals for holy people who actually journal. #notforme”
*Yes, I think in hashtags. Or…that’s the best way to explain the sort of sighing/groaning/complaining tenor of the thought that isn’t exactly words, but is more like a complete thing.
But, since it was so pretty (and I love pretty!) and it’s a clearly book, I read on. (Instagram for the win, folks, Instagram. For. The. Win.)
Then I followed the link to the Kickstarter campaign.
Oh. My. Word.
It’s helpful:
It’s organized (and those pages for confession tear out, ye who also have nosy people in your life):
What’s this “keeping track of your penance” thing? What a great idea! 🤦♀️
It has lovely little extras:
And is that “helping me grow and get better” that I see there?
Am I just excited because it looks pretty? Do I just need to buckle down and go. to. Confession? Maybe yes to both, but I also think there’s a lot of merit in this as a product. I immediately thought of my nieces, my daughters, and the Confirmation kids I’ve taught over the years.
The thing about being Catholic is that it’s so tangible. Oh, there’s plenty of theory, but there is also real stuff you can touch. IRL, baby, I.R.L.
This is one of those finds that’s too good not to share. I want to see it become a reality.
Help make that happen by supporting the Kickstarter campaign.
NOT an affiliate or sponsored post. I just discovered this and love. it. (In case you couldn’t tell…)
3. Saint of the Day: St. Walburga
Not only was St. Walburga the daughter of St. Richard the King, she was also sister to St. Willibald, St. Winebald, and St. Boniface. She was a religious sister of the Benedictine persuasion and is the patron of farmers, harvests, and sailors. You’ll also find people asking for her intercession for coughs, dog bites, famine, plague, rabies, and storms. She seems a pretty timely saint, actually, so let’s pause to say a little prayer to her, shall we?
Fun fact: St. Walburga was the inspiration for Walburga Black in the Harry Potter books.
Another fun fact: The rock where her relics are placed is said to produce cures.

Prayer for today: Our Lady of Victory, we have unshaken confidence in you intercession before your Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ. Humbly we ask your prayers for all Christians in help or need. We implore you to obtain for us grace needed in our lives to make us worthy of sharing Christ’s victory. May we join with you in praise of the Father, His Son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen. 🙏

Remember: You are one of God’s beloved, whether you feel like it or not. 🌹
Blessings and coffee,
