Hello and a blessed Monday to you!
1. Cupcake-a-palooza
My daughter has been stress baking. Her choice of sweet treat is cupcakes.
(SOOOOOO glad this wasn’t a Lent where I gave up sweets!)
Last Friday, she delivered freshly frosted (and still warm) cupcakes to me as she made them.
We’ve been delivering them to her friends, to family members, and to unsuspecting future diabetics.
Because this bout of baking hasn’t worn off after two weeks, I’m going to be introducing some recipes to her…after all, I’m the one bankrolling the butter and powdered sugar… 😉
She’s already been exploring the best recipes, so now let’s check out unusual recipes (lemon meringue! and, actually, all the things on that list).
Stay tuned. And if YOU have a favorite cupcake, send it my way.
2. Falling Home
Ever read a book and just find yourself gripped?
I picked up Falling Home: Creating a Life That Catches You When You Fall, by Hallie Lord, because I’m a curious person. I kept reading it because I know a good thing when it’s in my hands. I recommend it because you need this.
Poetical. Truth-filled. Lovely. Painful. Challenging. Beauty-invoking.
Lord has captured so many things and yet…and yet, it’s so hard to put it into words.
This book examines being real with yourself and opening yourself to all that God has for you. Lord is authentic and vulnerable, and it’s not awkward. It’s inspiring, and it’s motivational in a tender, “your best friend hugs you and you don’t mind” kind of way.
It’s one of my favorite reads...ever. I’m going to be getting a paper copy of it too, because I need to flip back through and revisit the wisdom and insight. Truly, a wow read.

3. Saint of the Day: St. David of Wales
Born around 520, St. David of Wales was said to have founded 12 monasteries. He finished his life in Wales, at a monastery that is still there.
He was no slouch: His community life was severe, with hard manual labor and only water to drink. He observed silence unless it was "absolutely necessary" to speak, and prayer was constant.
He was selected a bishop after his eloquence at a synod. He's thought to have died around 589, and St. Kentigern reportedly saw his soul carried to heaven by angels.

Prayer for today: O God, who graciously bestowed on your Bishop Saint David of Wales the virtue of wisdom and the gift of eloquence, and made him an example of prayer and pastoral zeal; grant that, through his intercession, your Church may ever prosper and render you joyful praise. 🙏
Have a great day, and if you don’t yet have daffodils in your part of the world, enjoy the thought (and pics) of 450 acres of blooms at the La Conner Daffodil Festival in Washington. 🌼
Blessings and coffee,
Sarah
